City Walk: living above the shops, on purpose
City Walk is Meraas's open-air district between Jumeirah Street and Sheikh Zayed Road. It is laid out as streets you walk, with shops and cafés at ground level and homes above. It suits a buyer who wants to walk out to dinner or a show. It doesn't suit someone who commutes by metro, or who wants a garden.
Daily life centres on the street. Meraas lists Coca-Cola Arena, which holds 17,000 people, The Green Planet bio-dome, a Roxy Cinema, clinics, and a Central Park with an outdoor gym and running track. Canadian University Dubai is inside the community. Meraas lists no school, so families should plan on driving for the school run.
City Walk is still being added to, and some new phases are towers. Meraas's Crestlane plan has 22 residential buildings and 2,625 homes, and Northline's three eight-floor blocks are due in Q3 2027. Meraas lists five residential projects here, so compare them with each other before you choose one.
There is no metro station in City Walk. The nearest, Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall, is about 1 km away in a straight line, across main roads, so check the walk before you count on it. By car, Downtown is about 5 minutes away and Jumeirah Beach about 10.
