DAMAC Hills: the golf one
DAMAC Hills, formerly Akoya by DAMAC, is DAMAC's 42 million sq ft community built around the Trump International Golf Club. It suits a family that wants a school, a park and the golf course inside the community, and doesn't mind driving everywhere else. It doesn't suit someone who wants to walk to a metro or to the beach.
The golf course is the spine: an 18-hole championship course designed by Gil Hanse, and a floodlit 9-hole par-3 course. Jebel Ali School, a British school running from Foundation Stage 1 to Year 13, moved to its campus here in 2016. DAMAC Mall has a Spinneys, a gym and a medical centre.
Homes run from apartments beside the fairways to large villas, so the community covers a wide range of budgets. Much of it is built and lived in, so a home here is often a resale. Before you commit, ask for the service charge and which way the home faces: a fairway view and a road view are different homes.
Transport is the weak point. No metro serves DAMAC Hills. The Red Line stations at Internet City and DMCC are 15 to 20 minutes away by car, so a household here needs at least one car.
