Internet City
A TECOM free zone of about 4,000 tech companies on Sheikh Zayed Road, with its own metro station. Sobha's The S is the one tower of homes.
Dubai Internet City: where the tech companies sit
Dubai Internet City is TECOM Group's technology business district on Sheikh Zayed Road, unveiled in 1999. It is a place to work rather than live. It suits a buyer who wants a finished, very large apartment in Sobha's The S, near the Palm and the Marina. It doesn't suit a family looking for a neighbourhood with schools and parks.
The district is a free zone, set up under Dubai Law No. 1 of 2000. The Dubai Media Office counted 4,000 companies and more than 31,000 professionals here in February 2025, from Oracle and SAP to start-ups. The offices sit around a landscaped lake, with cafes inside the campus.
Homes are few. The one development on this site filed here is Sobha's The S: a finished 62-storey tower of 93 homes on Sheikh Zayed Road, between Palm Jumeirah and the district. Sobha lists none for sale, so buying there means a resale from an owner. Barsha Heights and The Greens, across Sheikh Zayed Road, are the nearest residential districts.
Dubai Internet City station on the Red Line stands on Sheikh Zayed Road at the district's edge. By car, the airport is about 30 minutes away and the Palm about 15.
